Nathan Contrella, Ph.D., is a Principal Scientist in the Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development group at Merck & Co., Inc. Prior to joining Merck in 2015, he received his doctorate in the area of inorganic chemistry from The University of Chicago. While at Merck, Nathan has worked across the clinical and commercial development spaces, leading teams of analytical scientists and partnering with cross-functional groups to drive the development and analytical strategy of oral and parenteral products across indications including oncology, infectious disease, and hematology. In addition to supporting Merck’s development pipeline, he has been involved in a number of initiatives to train and upskill new hires and colleagues on HPLC and statistics, improve laboratory safety and efficiency, and restructure and optimize standard operating procedures and business processes.
